Coding can be challenging, but once you understand it it's pretty darn fun.
So let's start out with the easy ones.
Step one: in the reply box you will see 2 blue links in the bottom left hand corner of the text box. The first says Preview and the second says BBCode. If you want to actually see the code you're using (which makes it easier to see and understand what you're doing) you need to click the second link. Don't worry, it won't take you to a different page, just change the format of your post as you write it.
First off, is the code required to put things in code, so that others may see what you're doing. This is what it should look like when you are in
Next is the basic text options:
While you ARE able to do all of these through the shortcut options at the top, this is what they need to look like when you're working in the BBCode area.
Remember, while flipping back and forth between code and preview can help you, if you're still working on the code, you have to adjust to the fact that it WILL be altered to the V5 BBhtml coding format. As such, it's best to save the preview for the end when you're finished and just want to see how it looks.
Next up is text formatting. The same goes for the above as you need to be in the BBCode format in order to add these codes. While they will be altered upon preview and/or post, they too may simply be typed in as the V4 coding format.

While the standard text format is to the left, the code for aligning it is as follows:
[left]insert all wanted text in here[/left]
To align something in the center the proper code is as follows:
[center]insert all wanted text in here[/center]
To align something to the right, use the following code:
[right]insert all wanted text in here[/right]
Next is my favorite, the blockquote alignment brings in the edges on both sides just a bit:[blockquote]insert all wanted text in here[/blockquote]
