another message, another adventure, another journey. she didn't necessarily receive a message per say, but rather her digivice started to beep at her again. it reminded of her when she went in search of her crest, or when there were other tamers nearby. this dot though, was different than that; it was closer to when she got her crest. and had she known it was for more power, the bubbly teen probably would've have gone. of course, she knew more power meant a higher chance of protecting others and successfully completing missions and less damage to her partners. but it also means that others, more powerful, would also search for a fight with her partners, and juliette was the type to avoid as many fights as she could. violence was never okay with her - she hated hurting others, whether it was her or her partners.
yet, where would she be if they weren't powerful? the other digimon that challenged akoni - mainly akoni because matyas didn't fight unless he absolutely had to - would have destroyed then by now. matyas didn't fight unless he needed to because he knew how juliette hated unnecessary violence. he himself had nothing against violence, not really - the salamon x didn't particularly care for it while his partner, akoni, obviously had a more positive feeling with violence, as opposed to juliette's dislike. of course, that was what made their team work, juliette's unwillingness and akoni's eagerness balanced out by each other as well as by matyas' indifference. it also helped that matyas was sensible and could just as easily persuade juliette to allow them to fight as he could get akoni to stop fighting. of course, if juliette asked, akoni would stop anyways - unless she was in danger, then even matyas had problems. but in the midst of battle, it took a while to get through akoni's battle-ready mind.
and as they entered the overdell, akoni bristled, growling lowly in warning even as juliette stepped closer to the guilmon, matyas by her feet as always. already, even as they followed the signal into the overdell, the blonde felt a shiver run down her spine, foreboding and haunting. maybe it was just the area in general, which didn't particularly suit the cheerful teen anyways. "what do you think's here?" juliette asked, azure eyes darting back and forth, uncomfortable in the overdell. akoni nudged his tamer, placing his head under her hand in a form of comfort, as matyas remained steadily by her side, a comforting presence as always. "we don't have to continue on, if you don't want to, juliette," his mature voice, grounding her and akoni to the present, answered, baby blue eyes glancing up towards the sixteen year old.
had she wanted to go? usually, when she had a signal from her digivice, she followed it. after the time in which she had been in the digital world, she knew what the signal for another tamer looked at. however, there were still many signals that she didn't know, this one being one. and being the curious teen that she was, juliette had wanted tot know. "it's okay! i wanna know what it is!" she grinned, despite the overall uncomfortable feeling of the overdell. akoni huffed, nudging his tamer playfully, "it's gotta be important anyways, since it's on the digivice, right?" matyas hummed thoughtfully, but didn't answer. "i guess so. i mean, if it wasn't then it wouldn't be on the digivice!"
"exactly!"

juliette couldn't help but giggle lightly, the tenseness easing away from her stance as her partners grinned up at her, akoni rubbing his head on her hand until she began to pet him on her own. the two digimon would always know just how to calm juliette down and get her smiling again. for the most part, but luckily for them they hadn't had any problems with helping juliette, who was much more emotional and sensitive than the two. "of course! maybe it'll help us later on, or maybe it's something from the real world!" azure eyes glittered as her imagination took flight, leaving juliette even more curious about what the signal was. akoni rumbled in content, almost as if he were purring. matyas headbutted her leg gently, affectionately, as if to reassure her that he was there.
the salamon x had taken to keeping his eyes and ears open, while juliette continued on through the overdell and akoni continued to ask for her attention. they both knew it was the guilmon's way of getting their blonde tamer's mind off of whatever it was that was bothering her. both suspected it was because the overdell. and both would be right, knowing their tamer well enough that she was the type that needed light and sunshine rather than gravestones and bakemon. "is it close?" akoni asked, golden eyes flickering from one shadow to another, daring any digimon to come out and try to scare his juliette. he particularly hated when they targeted his tamer, for she was his and no one ever said he wasn't possessive. the guilmon was probably one of the most possessive digimon, always protective and demanding attention from his tamer, always growling in threat at others, specifically males who weren't him or matyas, that approached his tamer. it didn't help that juliette was the social type that made friends or tried to make friends no matter where she went.
juliette thrived on conversation and the company of others that weren't akoni and matyas. however, he wouldn't have her any other way - scaring away other tamers and lesser digimon was quite fun after all. he didn't need many friends anyways, even if matyas didn't mind the company and juliette practically needed it. "not yet, but it's around here. i know it is." and it filled her with excitement, the thought of searching for this mysterious signal that appeared on her digivice. and it wasn't just an adventure, it was like a treasure hunt! and being juliette, she practically exuded excitement at the thought of a treasure hunt of her own. sure, she had to search for her crest, but in the end it was given by the higher powers that most digimon spoke about.
"i can't wait to find out what it is!" and though he wouldn't admit it, neither would akoni. the dinosaur like digimon preferred fighting as an outlet for his energy, but without a fight he supposed a search like this would do just as well. after all, juliette sometimes got a bit too enthusiastic and ended up too tired to search some more in the end. then they'd end up taking a couple more days to find whatever it was that they were after - nothing too interesting or worthy, as none really came up on the digivice. instead, it was merely rumors and stories that led juliettes adventures. "maybe it's a gift or something'" because why else would it be on the digivice? surely, because juliette already had her crest and yet there had been nothing else that was worth a mention of the digivice. since it was, akoni could only deduce that it came from the same being of power that gave her the digivice.
matyas, silence and alert as he was, seemed to follow his fellow digimon's train of thought. why else would he be so alert? sure, there were the other digimon in the area, but nothing they couldn't handle. the salamon x just seemed to have that same feeling, the one he had when juliette got her crest. it wasn't a particularly bad feeling, but still something that had him more alert than usual. suspicious really because getting her crest had been enough trouble for juliette.

"bakemon are ghost like digimon, if you see one, do not fear it," for despite all their experience in the digital world and all their travels around file island, juliette had yet to actually meet a bakemon. those that live in the overdell, matyas knew, were not the friendliest. and while he didn't particularly judge, he didn't know many bakemon that could have been considered 'friendly'. none enough so that he'd allow juliette their company - bakemon were nasty digimon most of the time. almost like henchmen, he supposed; mean in nature yet nothing else truly depicting them from the rest of the mean digimon. akoni growled at the mention of them, eyes flashing in warning despite there being no bakemon in their line of sight. it was only the blonde's hand, resting softly and gently upon his head that had the guilmon calming down some. juliette wasn't particularly scared of ghosts - and while she did believe in them, she hadn't had any encounters or experiences other than scary movies that would have her afraid of the deceased beings.
"wow! really? do they live here then?" she asked, azure eyes alight with the new information. a stern look from her partner and she could only smile sheepishly. if would be close enough to a ghost encounter, wouldn't it? since the bakemon were ghost like digimon? "you don't want to meet them, they're a bunch 'a idiots." akoni said in a humorous tone. he shook his head and let out a breath from his nose as juliette suddenly tapped it, the closest to a stern look on her features. "akoni! that was mean to say! i'm sure they're not idiots."
always the type to believe in the best of others, it wasn't surprising that juliette stood up for the digimon that, matyas and akoni knew, would probably have no qualms about attacking her. which was why matyas was so on edge and akoni had made it his job in this 'adventure' to keep juliette from paying too much attention to their surroundings. both knew she'd feel horrible at seeing the headstones nearby and would probably be a bit too easily scared by the bakemon. and the salamon x would fight until the end against the bakemon that lived in the area if it meant juliette would get out safely and unharmed. of course, it was both his and akoni's natural instinct to protect their tamer. if the bakemon thought they were just another meal, then they had another thing coming. no one touched their juliette without their expressed consent. "perhaps not, but they aren't kind, juliette. best you avoid them for now," until she got thicker skin and didn't wear her emotions on her sleeve like she currently did. it would be a long while until then and so matyas would just rather not have her interact with the ghost like digimon if he could help it.
not to mention, she'd probably feel bad for them, for living in the overdell, made up of rows of headstones and little visitors. while she wasn't oblivious, juliette was neither the most observant person in the world and so it was quite simple for akoni to diverge her attention from the direction of the headstones, while matyas shot a cool warning glare at the digimon he knew to be hiding behind there. he didn't fight often, but he was particularly fierce when he did; not as much as akoni, but with his cool demeanor and intellect, matyas was not a digimon that one wanted to cross. "oh, okay. maybe next time i could talk to them?" she asked, azure eyes filled with the innocent need for wanting to help others and have a conversation, as per the rules of being a social butterfly such as she. matyas sighed inaudibly, unable to bring himself to outright deny his tamer. of course, he wouldn't like it but he could hope that maybe one day juliette wouldn't so easily be caught in a trap sprung by the bakemon. or an ambush. "maybe, we'll see."
"hey, look over there! that looks like a nice spot to hide something, don't ya think?" two sets of eyes followed the guilmon's paw, azure eyes glistening at the prospect of getting closer to her treasure while baby blue eyes surveyed the area critically for any signs of a threat. "how about we go check it out then, juliette?" the blonde grinned and eagerly nodded, nearly running forward if it weren't for the fact that akoni purposefully placed himself in front of her. her steps, however, were light and there was a slight bounce to them, as she couldn't contain her excitement. and it was matyas, the voice of reason, that had reminded them to check the digivice to see if they had found whatever it was that caused the signal.
"it shouldn't be this easy." was his only explanation. and akoni agreed; if it was important, it wouldn't have been this easy to find.
"hm, i think we're going in the wrong direction..." she pouted, glancing down at her digivice with a slight slump to her shoulders. it wasn't a moment later, though that she brightened up again. it was all part of a treasure hunt, after all. no fun if she found it right away. "it should be this way instead," she pointed slightly to the right, "let's go!"

the overdell wasn't the smallest place in file island, but it wasn't the largest either.
and yet, as juliette continued to glance down at her digivice, before azure eyes lifted back up only to return to her digivice, she couldn't help but rock on her feet, a sheepish smile finding it's way to her lips. "um...i think we're in the wrong direction again...hehe, oops." and while she didn't particularly mind continuing on with her so called treasure hunt, the blonde felt bad knowing that akoni and matyas probably wanted to leave already. they were only there because she wanted to find out what that signal was and now she was keeping them from leaving. "i'm sorry. we can, uh, we can go if you guys wanna." she managed a grin, though she was horribly disappointed at the fact that she'd have to leave this one unfound - never mind the fact that neither the salamon x or the guilmon had said anything otherwise.
the usually cheerful blonde teen had a habit of placing guilt on herself when there was no need for it, always worrying about others more so than herself. akoni rolled his eyes and heatbutted juliette softly, "we wanna find out what it is as much as ya do, juliette. so we ain't leaving." and she couldn't help but giggle at her partner, his words and actions making the unnecessary guilt melt away until she was back to her exuberant self. "which way are we going now?" the salamon x piped up, baby blue eyes flickering from the surroundings to his tamer.
juliette opened her mouth to answer, but paused, as she was unsure of where to go. the blonde sixteen year old had always been a bit indecisive, which made their journeys and adventures throughout file island all that more longer, but neither digimon seemed to mind. when she was with others though, juliette tended to let them take the lead and just follow; which was fine with matyas and akoni until someone tried to take advantage of it and make juliette do all the work. then they had a problem with it. currently, though, she had no one to follow and so had to make her own decisions, no matter how unsure she may be. one of the reasons that she much preferred the company of others when traveling rather than remaining alone. it was always easier, to let others make the choices, because she couldn't seem to. but she was getting the practice that she needed in order to start with making her own decisions. even if it was just something as trivial as going in a certain direction.
"um, how about...there?" it sounded more like a question than a response, as she glanced at her digivice for help in choosing which way to go. at least, she hoped it was this way - apparently she had read it wrong beforehand. or maybe something was moving it? like the bakemon or something? "see? right there - that's this way, right?"
"i believe so. are we heading that way then, juliette?" matyas answered, as akoni had taken his turn to warn the bakemon not to bother their tamer. he wasn't growling, because it would give juliette the wrong impression, so instead he narrowed his golden eyes and bared his teeth in a silent threat. and while a part of him was itching for a nice fight, hoping that one of them would be daring enough to try, another part didn't want any of them near his tamer. juliette would get curious and no doubt they'd bring her attention to the rows of headstones. which would make her feel sad and akoni would do anything so juliette didn't have to feel sad anymore.
"what're we waiting for then?" juliette giggled, nodding in answer to matyas' question and following akoni's lead, resting a hand on his head once more. she was really glad these two were her partners.
"what if there's more than one treasure?!"

akoni blinked. he hadn't even toyed with the thought of there being more than one, considering there was only one signal on the digivice. matyas, similarly, hadn't considered the idea of there being more than one object to search for. he hadn't thought that would be the case, considering they were in the immediate, or near the immediate, area and there was still only one signal that showed itself on the digivice. then again, there were many things about the overdell that left much to be desired - the need for headstones for one. yet, both still knew that when juliette got excited, sometimes her imagination seemed to make things bigger than they actually were. "i don't think so, juliette. there's only one signal on the digivice." matyas pointed out for the two of them, azure eyes blinking before looking back at the spring green device in her hand.
"oh yeah!" she didn't sound or look too disappointed, which was a relief for the two digimon because while they loved their tamer and usually were soft with her, when she was sad or disappointed, they simply could not deny her anything. even if it didn't make sense or if they knew it wouldn't work. luckily for them, juliette wasn't particularly too attached to the idea of there being more than one 'treasure' to find. it would've been fun, sure! but she still had to find the first - or just one - first, before she got excited about the others, if there were any. "'sides, i don't think there'd be a lotta stuff hidden here." akoni voiced. it would be safe to say he didn't have a fondness for the digimon that lived in the overdell.
or perhaps there was, guarded by the bakemon and untouchable to any one that lived outside of the overdell. who'd want to live in the overdell anyways besides those creepy digimon, akoni couldn't help but think, narrowing his eyes at a moving shadow that he knew not to be any of theirs. speaking of creepy digimon. golden eyes met baby blue and without words the two partners nodded to each other in acknowledgement of the stalkers they had acquired.
"yeah, i don't think so either. it feels like a lonely place, though," the bubbly blonde mumbled that last part under her breath, reminding the two that while she wasn't too observant, juliette was still rather perceptive. perhaps more so in emotions rather than situations such as this - the teen always wore her heart on her sleeve after all, so would it not make sense that she would be able to sense the same from others? then again, she was not a digimon but a human and both akoni and matyas knew that they usually didn't have such abilities. those that did were with labels and juliette had never mentioned a label before. "not many visit here. the bakemon usually dislike intruders." the salamon x stated, sighing at the fact that juliette would probably feel bad about intruding now.
"they do? oh..." she trailed off, azure eyes looking towards the ground as she seemed to shrink into herself, before glancing at her partners. "you don't think they'll be mad at me, do you? i didn't mean to intrude," and honestly she didn't. it just so happened to be the area where whatever it was that they were searching for was. maybe the bakemon would make an exception for that? akoni nearly growled aloud, as he glared in the direction of the hidden digimon, as if blaming them for juliette's sudden worry. matyas glanced about before answering, "i don't think they would, so long as we don't longer after we find the signal," well, to the best of his knowledge at least. and with his reassurance, though she had no reasons to believe him - she also had no reason to not believe her partner - juliette almost visibly relaxed back into that cheerful girl that akoni and matyas both loved.
"okay then, we should probably start looking so we don't bother them any longer than we need to, right?"

"a good idea, juliette." matyas nodded in agreement to her words. when it came to juliette alone, she couldn't make decisions very well, always unsure in her choices. however, put in another's opinion and she'd probably follow it without a second thought because juliette was a follower, not a leader. but when there are other variables that factor into her decision, such as the happiness or health of others, she could easily make a decision that would benefit the others, even if it wasn't what she wanted herself. though the two were hardly in opposition with each other since the blonde really did like helping others and it made her happy to know that she helped make them happy.
the crest of kindness came as no surprise back then when she had first received it and it came as no surprise now. and while akoni hadn't been there when juliette received her crest, he knew, without a doubt, that his tamer was truly worthy of such a crest, amongst others. still, kindness and juliette silva really should be synonyms considering how friendly and open to others the cheerful, optimistic girl was. "how about here?" because it was just a good place as any to start their search for the seemingly elusive object. what was it that they were even looking for? how could they search for something they didn't even know? "uh, what're we lookin' fer exactly?" juliette paused in her search, azure eyes wide as she considered the answer to akoni's question.
"that's a good question!" because she couldn't think of what, exactly, they were looking for. maybe something strange? because when she got her crest, she had to prove she was worthy of such power. however, something told her this was different, because they had yet to run into trouble. "what do you think, matyas?" the salamon x didn't answer right away, instead his focus seemingly somewhere else. juliette knew better though, for she'd spent quite a bit with her partners and matyas had rarely left her side since she first entered the digital world. she knew him and akoni like the back of her hand, as well as they knew her. "i do believe that whatever it is we're searching for would react to the digivice."
the bubbly blonde nodded. that made sense, then again matyas almost always made sense. "so, i'll just look with my digivice out?" again, as if she wasn't sure of her decision and needed someone else to answer a positive before she went through with it. in this case, akoni nodded and nudged his tamer encouragingly. "that'll work," so they walked, side by side, as juliette gripped her digivice even as her eyes flickered back and forth trying to find whatever it was that she was looking for. something that stood out, probably, because she couldn't think of anything else that could at least hint at the fact that it was what they were looking for - digivice excluded.
"it's beeping faster," akoni murmured, golden eyes turned towards his tamer before resuming their narrowed, warning gaze to the side, where juliette wasn't. they still had their shadows and it made him tense, in knowing that they haven't done anything yet. maybe matyas was right and they were just waiting for juliette to get whatever it was and leave. or they were waiting for the perfect time to ambush. either way, akoni wouldn't let them lay a hand on his juliette. matyas, who knew the situation as well, seemed to do the same, tense and ready for a fight. when it came to juliette the two were of similar minds, though akoni much more instinctual and violent than matyas' calm and collected state of mind. "i bet that means we're close!" and despite her cheerful grin and excited tone and the skip in her step, juliette did not miss the tenseness in her partners that they just could not hide.
it usually meant trouble and she figured something would've happened. after all, something that registered on the digivice usually meant trouble - either that or other tamers, and this one most certainly didn't mean another tamer. still, her partners didn't want her to worry, she knew that, and so she'd just go along with it. she'd hate for their efforts to go to waste, after all. so, she turned her attention to her digivice screen and was content to know that her partners would always be watching over her.

the dot - the very one that led them to the overdell - was blinking quite quickly, in beat to the beeping that came from the digivice, even as she took a step forward. then two, three and finally four steps forward. yet the dot had yet to move and the beeping continued at the pace it had been before. did that mean they were there? azure eyes glanced around, trying to ignore the frightening feeling she got when her gaze reached the shadows in the area. she wouldn't lie and say that she felt completely comfortable, but she had faith in her partners and their strength. time and time again, matyas and akoni had proven it to her even though juliette honestly didn't need any proof. she loved her two partners more than anything and she believed in them. that's all there was to it, really. so, as she returned her gaze to glance at the digivice, the bubbly blonde tried to ignore the fear that crept up in the back of her mind.
the overdell most certainly wasn't a place she was keen on returning to. as optimistic as she was, juliette wasn't oblivious - well, not too oblivious anyways - and she knew when she wasn't wanted. the bakemon that lived in the area didn't like trespassers. and even though it was her digivice that led her here, she was a trespasser. to be honest, she didn't know how long they'd wait to attack, because matyas and akoni were still quite tense and they never were unless it meant danger. that or they didn't trust or like someone - which, unfortunately, happened often for akoni as they've come across many other tamers. male tamers which the guilmon had felt threatened by. silly digimon, juliette would never leave him or matyas. for anything or anyone. they were a package deal the moment she fell into the digital world - and the moment she found akoni who had hatched after matyas in primary village. "something wrong, juliette?"
the voice of her partner knocked her out of her thoughts, the blonde just now realizing that she'd been staring absentmindedly at the screen of her digivice, which still beeped and blinked. with a grin she nodded, assuring the salamon x that she was fine, really, "mmhmm! i was just thinking, that's all." and as baby blue eyes focused on her, she knew that matyas wouldn't pry because really, she was okay. the bubbly tamer just got lost in her thoughts for a moment, that's all. akoni, who narrowed his golden eyes, didn't look at her until matyas returned to surveying the area with a nod of his head, accepting her answer. while matyas wouldn't pry, akoni was protective and possessive and absolutely hated the idea of anything happening to the blonde.
rather than feel stiffled by his affection, juliette rather embraced it, an affectionate being herself. she just wishes akoni wouldn't be so distrustful of other tamers - her guilmon was really a nice digimon. just protective is all. "if anythin's wrong, just yell," he stated, before rubbing his hand under her head to be petted. juliette giggled at akoni's antics, nodding her head at his command - because that's what it was and she wasn't about to argue with him - before the trio moved to continue their search in tandem. juliette's eyes flickering from the surroundings to her digivice, matyas walking silently beside her, attention focused more on the threat around them rather than the task at hand. akoni, not surprisingly, wasn't really looking, or even trying to look. instead, the guilmon was trying to dissuade the bakemon into leaving them alone with narrowed eyes and bared teeth, a silent threat at them.
"this makes no sense, it hasn't moved since it started beeping faster!" she all but pouted, a slight huff of exasperation to her words. cheerful and bubbly she may be, the blonde didn't particularly enjoy being played like this. at least, she hoped she wasn't being played because it was mean and she would probably end up teary. though she wouldn't cry because then that'd make akoni and matyas worried. the two never liked to see her cry, as she was always such a happy person by nature that it seemed odd when she didn't smile. that and they just didn't like when their tamer was sad, obviously. "then maybe we should take a closer look around here, don't you think? if it's not moving, then it's here. we just have to find it." the salamon x stated, as calm and cool as ever. the cheerful tamer glanced at her digivice once more before nodding, akoni not even nodding as he continued to warn away the bakemon.
the guilmon really didn't like the thought of the bakemon scaring his partner or attacking her because she was on their land. well, not their land but they lived there and so they saw it as their land. "let's make it quick, yeah? i don' like it here." blunt as always, it was a quick change from his willingness to help juliette search earlier. but that was before he realized just how threatened juliette was - apparently the bakemon weren't very smart. if they were then they'd have left them alone when akoni first sent that warning growl at them. oh well. now they'd face the combined wrath of matyas and him because while matyas didn't fight often - for juliette's sake - he was still quite a force to be reckoned with. especially when dealing with juliette and her happiness and or safety.
"it's getting kinda cold too," the azure eyed teen added, glancing up as if to search for whatever it was they were looking for up there. it was still day and juliette would much rather leave before nighttime - the overdell was uncomfortable enough without the added darkness that came with the night. "Mwe can continue tomorrow if you want, and head back now?" because his tamer always, always came first. above everything. juliette shook her head though, it was close. she knew it.
so then why couldn't they find it?

matyas continued to watch juliette, even as he remained alert in case the bakemon tried to take advantage of his inattention. which wasn't really needed as akoni had taken to audibly growling in warning to the digimon that resided in the overdell. he knew that juliette's curiosity would beg her to return until they found whatever it was, but he didn't want her to continue searching throughout the night. during the day was fine because it was easier to fight against the bakemon, but at night where the bakemon knew every layout of the overdell and he and akoni knew almost nothing of it - he didn't want to risk it. of course they could digivolve, but to what point would it be if they couldn't hit their targets?
"alright, let's keep looking," he nodded, unable to deny his tamer anything. especially not when he knew she wanted to continue and was only asking for his happiness. after all, she was trying to find it quickly for akoni, who voiced their negative opinion about the place. and he knew she'd be sad to leave without knowing what made her digivice react like that. it wasn't often that a tamer's digivice reacted in such a way and he could only hope that it was something good. because otherwise he'd have to take his irritation out on the source - the bakemon. juliette didn't know they were there, shadowing them like they were, but she did feel uneasy because of it. and the salamon x knew that the blonde didn't particularly like the overdell either. too uncomfortable to a girl like her. "it'll be quick!" she stated, hoped more like. akoni didn't like this place. and neither did she, quite frankly. matyas didn't seem to like it either and he was always the voice of reason. if he didn't like it then there must be a good reason.
unless it had to do with tamers because the blonde found that, as polite and friendly as he may seem, matyas was just as protective as akoni. he didn't trust the tamers unless they've proven themselves to him in one way or another that they could take care of his tamer. he was always afraid that someone would come and take advantage of his tamer's kindness and matyas would not let that happen. akoni wouldn't either, as the guilmon was quite obviously aggressive and protective. "ya get anythin' on the digivice yet?" akoni asked, golden gaze turning away from the shadows for a moment to glance at his tamer. the trio were close, that much was obvious, and akoni always loved having juliette's attention because she was his tamer. he was possessive about it because he didn't want anyone else hurting his juliette, physically or otherwise. matyas was protective but in a passive kind of way. it balanced out akoni's aggression.
and while juliette didn't like it, it also served to remind her that akoni would do anything for her and she appreciated it. really, she did, even though they haven't spoken aloud about it juliette just knew. it was like instinct, knowing just how far her partners would go and the blonde tamer could only hope that it never came to that. she depended on the two and didn't know what would happen should anything happen to them. she'd probably cry her eyes out, as much as she hated crying - because it always worried everyone else when she cried, despite the fact that they knew she was sensitive. azure eyes focused on the screen in front of her, brows furrowing as nothing changed before she sighed. "not yet, but we'll find it! maybe it's hiding...?" she glanced around. the immediate area in the overdell wasn't exactly a good place for hiding as there were few places that looked like they could hide something.
and just as she was about to suggest they split up and look at one spot each, matyas spoke up first. "how about we check them out, one at a time? it'd be easier that way, so we don't accidentally miss something," the salamon x spoke. to which juliette nodded, grinning and reaching out to pet akoni before racing towards the closest one. she heard akoni's playful growl as he began to chase her, the tamer unable to withhold the giggle as the guilmon easily caught up, nudging her playfully. matyas was behind them, alert and unwilling to leave even the slightest space in which the bakemon could separate them. they'd have to try harder to get juliette away from them, let alone attack her.
"heh, i win!"
juliette leaned over, hands on her knees as she huffed, trying to catch her breath from running and laughing so much at the same time. though her azure eyes glittered and an smile lifted her expression to that natural content look she always seemed to have. joy was like the default emotion for the bubbly blonde. "i'll still find the treasure first." she teased, sticking her tongue out with a smile. and they continued to search thoroughly through the area, matyas and akoni only paying partial attention, more focused on the digimon nearing them than the treasure that juliette wanted to find. and not because she thought it was treasure - the search reminded her of a treasure hunt, why wouldn't she call it a treasure? - but juliette just wanted to know what it was that got her digivice to act like it currently was. it never did this before.
and as none of the trio found anything juliette grinned, straightening from her crouch as she still found nothing. "nothing here, so onward ho!" she straightened her arm, pointing forward in the direction they were currently headed. they hadn't found anything yet, but juliette wouldn't give up. determination shone in her azure eyes - she was going to find this treasure and she was going to find it soon. "how about now? any changes?"
the cheerful tamer looked at her digivice before shaking her head in negative. it was still blinking but as she focused she realized that the beeping had stopped when they were searching through that one spot. "huh, is that a good thing - that it stopped beeping, i mean," she asked her partners, waving her digivice slightly as if to bring attention to it. did that mean they were closer or that they were farther away? after all, it only began to beep when they got to the area, though there were still a couple of good spots to search. the overdell wasn't exactly the best place to hide something, but juliette didn't particularly mind. she was enjoying her little treasure hunt anyways - it was a challenge, just like a real one would be!
"maybe it's there," akoni nodded towards the spot they were just heading to. it looked like a good place to hide something. juliette grinned, excited at the prospect of finally finding their treasure.
"well then, let's go!"

as it turns out, the second spot wasn't it either.
"well, you know what they say; third time's the charm!" juliette grinned, as she looked one last time around. it was smaller than that last spot, so quicker to get through and yet they hadn't found anything of real importance. and nothing that made her digivice react. "we can hope so," matyas, of course, continued to be alert. akoni, however, had gone from alert to helping juliette look full out. he'd gotten tired of just growling and glaring at them - if they decided to attack his tamer, he'd be right there with her and they wouldn't be able to do anything before he would tear through them like tissues.
unlike the first time they headed to a spot, juliette was content to walk, though they could see her bouncing on the tips of her toes in her excitement. "there aren't many spots left; which means we'll find it soon!" and that they would because there were only a few spots that seemed like they were hiding something. of course, she'd be disappointed if they didn't find anything, but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy the treasure hunt anyways. sometimes you found it, sometimes you didn't. that was how it worked and juliette would be getting something either way - whether it be an object itself or just a joy with having done her first real treasure hunt. "great! the faster we find this thing, the faster we leave!" juliette giggled, knowing that while akoni wanted to leave, he was curious about whatever it was too. so, they continued on with their search.
"here?" she asked herself, tilting her head as her hand moved to brush away some things to search thoroughly for the treasure. nothing but dirt and leaves. it didn't dissuade her though, she knew it was around here. and as optimistic as she was, she hoped that it really would be third time's the charm for them. akoni may have been curious but she didn't want to keep him in the overdell if he didn't like it. not to mention, matyas seemed not to like it either. and if the salamon x didn't like something then surely there was good reason - matyas being much more reasonable and logical than akoni, so she knew she had a good reason to be weary. like when she talked with other tamers and akoni got jealous or protective - matyas would remain fine with them. though she knew he never really trusted them until they proved themselves to him. "how about here?"
matyas hadn't bothered to search around, remaining still with his baby blue eyes promising pain if the bakemon dared to step over the metaphorical line that divided them. juliette felt a shiver run through her even as she continued. akoni was right next to her, matyas only an arms length away but she just didn't like feeling like they wanted to chase her out. it not only made her feel frightened but it made her sad that she was making them feel that way. not to mention she didn't want her partners caught up on a fight because she decided to look around for treasure with her digivice as the map. "oi, what's this?" akoni called out, narrowing his eyes on the object in front of him. it was hidden, nearly buried in the ground like some sort of rock.
it looked more like an egg to him.
his exclamation got both juliette's and matyas' attention, to which juliette grinned as she stepped next to him, looking down at the odd object. an egg? "let's see," and she pulled out her digivice, which was glowing, still not beeping but still different than before. this must've been it. matyas edged his way over, still weary yet wanting to make sure that they wouldn't get too caught up in something that might not be good for them. juliette and sometimes akoni tended to do that - mainly because juliette was too trustful and didn't think many things were dangerous. and that was when he noted her digivice's reaction. a quick glance around them and matyas narrowed his baby blue eyes. the bakemon seemed to be lying in wait still, but he wouldn't let them catch him off guard. neither would akoni if the guilmon's sudden growl was anything to go by.
"so pretty," the blonde seemed to whisper, as her azure eyes seemed glued to the strange egg. her digivice stopped reacting, but the dot that was once on the screen had disappeared. she reached out to grab the egg looking object, surprised that it only took a few wiggles before managing to be separated from the ground. dirt covered the bottom part, a shallow indent where it lay found on the ground. "i think this is it!" excitement surged through her veins even as she continued to admire the treasure. and treasure it was. juliette thought it looked rather cute for an egg.
and with that, the trio left, matyas and akoni attacked any bakemon that dared to try to stop them from leaving. the digimon didn't have to digivolve though, a few threatening slashes and the bakemon backed away, but not before sneering. juliette shivered, she didn't think she'd come back to the overdell soon.

After the Bakemon backed away, a few were bathed in a bright light. A light so brilliant that few could not take it. Of course their physical form evaporated and left nothing but a digiegg behind which floated off to areas unknown to the heroine at the moment. A light shone in front of them with such radiance but as it did, a voice is softly heard. Words uttered more than once, the word...light, in more than one language. "Light, luce, hikari..." As the light slowly dimmed, what could be seen in the middle was a little figure. Somehow, a digiegg revealed itself to the girl who discovered it. That cute egg which she found was certainly one she could claim for herself. Something that is befitting for her truly. Congratulations on your discovery! The digiegg of Light is yours for the taking!
