It had been a stroke of good fortune that had sent Gray's walking along the edge of the canyon in the dark. Well, good fortune for one of the four, at least. Gray had been in File City, looking through the market, when he had seen a flash bulb for sale that was compatible with his camera. It was, like most other things from the human world, outrageously expensive, but Gray had managed to talk it down to within his budget. So now he was in Night Canyon, which from what he had heard would be the best possible place for him to get some good late-night shots. The sun had just set, and if he could trust those he had spoken to, the place was about to come alive.
The only problem was three partners who hadn't been too happy when they found out that they'd be running around in the dark all night. Well, Cal and Jin had only been mildly annoyed, since gazimon had night vision anyway, which was why he was currently leading, and the kudamon wasn't in the habit of showing his irritation, if there was any. Lyra, on the other hand, was remembering why she had secretly dreamed about smashing Gray's camera back in his early days in the digital world. "Gray, I swear to the sovereigns, if I fall off a cliff, you'll be coming with me." She said, tripping for what had to have been the fifth time. "Why didn't you just bring a flashlight?" She asked, exasperated.
Gray didn't even look back as he replied. "It would have been too disruptive. Besides, it's not that dark, and we've got Cal to guide us." He said, secretly glad that Lyra was complaining about his photography. It was a sign that things were finally getting back to normal after everything that had happened to the four of them. Part of that normalcy, of course, was Cal and Lyra's constant bickering.
"Just chill out Crabgrass. As much as I'd want to, I won't let you fall." The Gazimon said. After the initial annoyance had passed, he had become pretty happy with their late night destination. After all, it had been at least a month since they had done anything interesting, and he was ready for some excitement. "You don't see Jin complaining."
"Granted I'm safe and sound up here." Said the Kudamon from his perch on Gray's shoulder. Gray had been reluctant to let his soft-spoken partner leave his side since his rebirth, and Jin didn't have any problem complying, at least for the moment.
Gray rolled his eyes. Normal for them, at least. "Cal, remember to keep an eye out for anything interesting." He said, his hand already reaching for the camera around his neck. With any luck, he would have some new pictures to develop by the time they got home.
